How Do You Get Wealthy?

Something most of us know all to well is how to go to work and trade time for money. We have been taught this by our parents, who were taught by their parents and so on. It is passed down generation after generation; work hard at a job and you will be ok. Bullshit, I say! Sorry for being so blunt, but someone needs to give you a kick in the ass and wake you up and pull the blindfold off. Doesn't just being OK really suck? Don't you want more? Scary thing is we don't know where to start since we were never taught anything about what it takes to get wealthy. One thing I know for sure, no one ever gets wealthy, I mean truly wealthy, working for someone else. The only thing you're doing there is making someone else wealthy, how's that for reality? So what's the answer then, how do you create wealth? Good question. Let me tell you, there are three ways to create wealth and only three ways. Before we get on to that, lets take a look at one other thing closely first: Time. We all have 24 hours in a day, no matter how I try I cannot possibly have more time in a day than 24 hours, no one can. So why is it that some people earn $10.00 per hour and others are making $10,000.00 per hour?

What does person 1 not know that person 2 does? The secret is LEVERAGE! See if you are working for someone else and you work 8 hours per day at $10.00 per hour the absolute most you could make a day is $80.00. Now lets get real crazy and say you didn't sleep or eat or take breaks and you worked straight for 24 hours at $10.00 per hour, the most you could make a day would be $240.00. See going on like that would kill someone, it would be impossible to ever get ahead trading all of your time for money, and it just doesn't work. One thing that you quickly realize is that you are either always running out of time or energy. There is a ceiling over you and you cannot ever get past that if you are stuck doing all by yourself. You cannot do it all by yourself, that is the one thing that the wealthy know and the poor and middle class do not. If you look at this scenario from the employers stand point we will notice some leverage happening. Lets say you own a business and you employ me. You work for 8 hours on Monday and I work for those same 8 hours, you get paid on 16 hours worth of work, you have LEVERAGE, so you get more done. The more leverage you have the more wealth you will create, because you are leveraging off of other peoples efforts. If you ever want to create wealth there must not be a ceiling, you cannot be limited by time.

Let's get back to the three ways to create wealth. The three ways to create wealth are having money at work, having people at work or having machines at work, ie. computer; that is it. There are no other ways. For the sake of this article we are going to say we only have two ways to create wealth, People at work and money at work. We will just focus on those two methods; the computer at work is a whole other topic. When we examine having money at work we are talking about investments, stock, bonds, saving, etc. Say you had $5,000,000 in a savings account or investments, well that would give you about $40,000 per month in passive residual income from the interest. That is some nice income with minimal effort. So how does someone get to the point of having money at work? Well they must start by having people at work right? It isn't to often that someone just has $5,000,000 sitting around in a savings account or investments. So to accumulate that kind of money you must employ others so that you get more done. From there you will begin to increase the amount of money you have saved which is needed to start having money working for you.

There are a few problems though when you have people at work, those are they do not have ownership so they don't have the same amount to gain as you do. Are they going to work as hard as you do? Not likely, and why would they? In order to get true leverage you must create a situation where everyone has the exact same amount to gain, one example of this type of leverage is the broker / agent scenario. If you were a broker and I was your agent we would both have something to gain from this relationship. You want me to have success because you make a profit if I make a sale, and shouldn't you. You put up the risk, its your office, you trained me, etc, etc. I work hard to get the sale because I get rewarded for my hard work as well; it's a win / win situation. That is a form of true leverage but only for the broker, great to be the broker. If we ever want to create true leverage there must be a situation that every single person has the exact same amount to gain by the result.
To wrap up, in order to create wealth you must either have people at work or money at work so that you can get more done, if you are relying 100% of your own efforts you are always going to find that you are running out of time or energy. Leverage is Key. Lets create some wealth!

I would appreciate comments/ feedback on this article

Together we can create change, it is time for a change in our economy, there is an unlimited amount of money in this world, lets help others to attain wealth, the more people we help the more wealth we can create naturally for us.

One of the biggest secrets to wealth is gratitude

Have a BILLIONAIRE Day!!!

Passive Income Streams - What Are They and How Can You Get Them?

It sounds fantastic, doesn't it? The very idea of a stream of income that is passive is incredibly attractive and seductive to any thinking person. But just what does passive income really mean? Definitioins of the term "Passive income" on the Web vary, but my personal favourite is found at Wikipedia which seems to cover most bases.

One obvious example of passive income is the interest accrued by a savings account – this is all very well while you have savings in place, but the problem with this kind of income is that it is residual, meaning that in order to maintain the income stream, only the residual part can be used. If you fall upon hard times or the interest rate drops dramatically you might have to start spending your lump sum, then of course the passive income disappears along with your savings. Not an ideal situation and it demonstrates the fragility of residual income.

The best kind of passive income then is continuous and does not rely on a lump sum. Once the wheels have been set in motion then no further action is required for the income to be generated, or as the Wikipedia definition states; "without continuing effort" - Quite simply, it happens all by itself! Sounds good to me, but how is that kind of passive income model created?

There are a number of ways, but probably the most well known are royalty payments earned for creating popular songs or best-selling books. We've all heard of the massive royalty cheques received by songwriters and top authors. But hang on a minute; does that mean you have to write a hit record or a bestselling novel in order to generate passive income? Well, if you have the talent, along with the patience and perhaps a bit of luck on your side, then by all means go for it. However, most of us fall short of one or more of the required criteria, and the number of people earning a living through this kind of passive income alone are in the minority.

One thing that cannot be overlooked is work. Don't be fooled into thinking that just because your time is not directly traded for cash that no work is required on your part. In most cases a great deal of time and effort has to be expended before even the smallest amount of passive income is realised, and this kind of 'up front' work without any obvious instant rewards will put many off before they even get started – after all; who wants to spend their evenings researching and writing articles for a Website when they could be out socialising or relaxing in front of the TV? Only the very dedicated, I believe.

However, the Internet, or more specifically; the World Wide Web offers up opportunities for the passive income seeker that would have been unheard of not so very long ago. Many unseen and unknown Website owners are silently raking in huge profits as a result of allowing advertising on a popular site. Imagine the earning potential of PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising on a site that pulls in 100,000 visitors per day, or the fee that could be commanded for a prominently placed banner on such a site. That kind of result surely justifies any amount of up-front work? Let's not forget though that a successful Website requires ongoing work to remain popular so it might not be considered the perfect example of a truly passive income stream model.

Some passive income streams can also be very small, requiring a combination of streams to make up a full time living. This can again be seen on the Internet when a webmaster has a number of Web sites each making a small amount of money from advertising (most recently Adsense has been the favourite) – In examples such as this it is the combined force of these smaller revenue streams that make up the overall income. On the face of it, this is not such a bad idea when you consider that if one of the sites fails it does not have a major effect on the overall earnings of the site owner, thereby avoiding financial catastrophe. For the belt and braces approach a number of different advertisers would also be combined, so that (as in this example) Adsense is not the only source of revenue.

The conclusion is that passive income although desirable to most in theory, will require some up-front effort to achieve, and not everybody has that discipline. For the person that is both disciplined and determined there are different ways of creating passive income streams and the World Wide Web offers one of the greatest opportunities of our time including the possibility of drawing income from a number of sources and combining them together into one larger sum - this is the model used by many successful Adsense devotees. However, it has also been seen that it is not always wise to put all of our eggs into one basket, and that a combination of different income streams could be the sensible option long term to cover the expenses necessary for living a fulfilling lifestyle.

Passive income? Yes please!

Web Directory Unveiled

One of the most important and determining factors in the success of any web site is the use of the search engine optimization techniques. The web masters aim for their sites to be to be among the highest and fastest ones listed on any possible search engine.

One way link building can be easily achieved by using web directory submission. Of course, this is easy for a person who knows what he or she is doing! So, for those of you that are not perfectly aware of what this consists of, I will begin by setting some things straight from the start. It is a commonly known fact that the search engine spiders are nothing but computer programs which automatically browse the web looking for sites to add to a search engine.

Web directory submission is great help for any webmaster in the world. For instance, some of the most well known sites such as MSN and Yahoo are based on directories and users that want to find web sites within a specific field and use directories in order to quickly getting to the information they are in need for. Web directory is the perfect tool for anyone looking for a free way to build links. It does not even require for you to return the favor by linking back to a particular web site. The result is that you can get your web site listed on a popular site without spending a cent.

Should you have decided to test this technique, the first thing you will have to do is finalizing your web site. I am saying it because the persons in charge with web directory submission do not accept any unfinished web sites. And it can get even worse: by submitting an unfinished site to the web directory, you will be making it quite difficult for the resulting finished site to be ever listed. Therefore, keep in mind the fact that you must absolutely finish your site before submitting it to the web directory. Do not see the action of filling the forms as a waste of time and try to fill out as many of the optional fields as possible. This is a commonly made mistake, so try to stand out from the crowd and avoid it!

The quality of the content is also essential! So do not forget to come up with good titles for the pages in your web site and with a good and accurate description for the site. This description must catch the eye of the users of the web sites and, at the same time, match the requirements of the persons responsible for the web directory submissions. If all of these tips are not enough to make your web site get listed on the web directory, you can always apply some more touching techniques as thanking the people whoa re meant to review your site. They are also humans and will most certainly have more patience with your web site if you treated them nicely!

The Secrets to Formulating a Winning Strategy

Every successful business, large and small, that has a winning strategy follows the same basic formula for doing so. While all businesses have their own unique strategy, certain consistent elements can be seen throughout all the prosperous ones. Committing the time and energy to doing these things determines the success of a business. The following is a list of 8 things all flourishing businesses have in common:

1. Goal Setting – In order to achieve success in business the leader needs to define where he or she wants the company to be, what they want to do and what they want to achieve. Goal setting is what turns an idea into results. Organizations with goals achieve far more than those that simply hope for the best.

2. Vision Sharing – Using participatory visual models to enable people to create an image of the future is vital. This allows for business goals to be integrated into a shared company vision. Having a unified vision saves time, money and frustration. Your people will accomplish far more if they can see and buy into where you are trying to take the company. This is an invaluable part of a successful business.

3. Pursuit of Excellence –Successful businesses don't buy into the premise, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." So, if you have been, it may be time for a paradigm shift. Too many businesses get bogged down in comfort and mediocrity. Even when their business model is working successful businesses are constantly improving and looking for ways to change.

4. Benefit Modeling – Intuition can be handy for making some decisions, but important choices about the future direction of the company, or substantial investments should be made using some kind of decision making methodology. Analyzing scenarios and evaluating risks in order to maximize return on business investments, is a best practice of successful businesses.

5. Integrated Planning – A comprehensive view should be taken of business, people and technology and the processes surrounding them should be integrated into a single business plan. Successful businesses have a single business plan that ties all the elements of the company's efforts together into one unified strategy. The strategy should map the course for the company as a whole, including all of its parts.

6. Explicit Accountability – Clearly designate responsibility for the achievement of business accomplishments. Successful businesses are without layers of middle managers whose sole responsibility is to make sure that that their workers are getting their job done. By delegating work and clearly attributing specific responsibilities to specific positions, businesses achieve more, more efficiently.

7. Knowledge Building – The desire to learn should be cultivated and rewarded. The smarter we become individually, the smarter we become collectively. Improving the rate of learning throughout the organization creates group success. The best businesses value constant learning and improving where their employees are concerned. Have employees set aside time on the clock to read non-position related material that will increase their business acumen.

8. Technology Planning – Think ahead and globally about your company's technology needs for the future. This is a no-brainer in today's dynamic and virtual world. If technology is key to your value proposition, you must keep up with the Joneses. For the areas of your company that are back office operations instead of competitive advantages the key is to stay on pace with advancements, while not getting too far ahead or behind the curve.

All businesses have a strategy. The ones that have a successful strategy incorporate these practices in order to remain successful. For more information about how you can improve your business' strategy, visit http://www.flourishingbusiness.com.

Get Coverage Using Promotional Bags at Trade Shows

Companies exhibiting at trade shows invest a significant amount of time and money, so it is essential that they maximise this investment by getting as much coverage as possible.Promotional bags are one of the most effective giveaways at trade shows and serve several purposes.

Anyone who has ever been to any kind of exhibition or trade show cannot fail to have noticed the sea of colourful tote bags – overprinted with a brand name or logo – carried on the shoulders of visitors as they walk around. Promotional tote bags are popular with visitors because they are extremely useful for carrying all the brochures, catalogues, samples and freebies they accumulate during the day. And all the time they act as a walking advertisement.

Low cost, branded tote bags are ideal if the prime marketing objective is to create awareness, because they can be handed out fairly randomly to anyone passing by. If, however, the quality of leads is more important than the quantity, a smaller amount of more expensive promotional bags may be a better solution. These can either be handed out to reward key customers or form part of a prize draw to bring people to the stand.

Other exhibitors may also be giving away promotional bags so it is important to choose a style, colour and design that will stand out from the competition. Offering something a little bit different from the rest will help generate interest and a buzz around the hall.

Affordable, highly visual and practical, promotional bags are undoubtedly one of the best products for creating maximum exposure at a trade show.

SEO Training For Beginners Part I

Optimizing your website for search engines is done by following a set of rules and guidelines set by the search engine developers. Google is currently the most popular search engine by far, therefore it's very important that you follow the webmaster guidelines and rules by Google. If you don't, there's a chance that you'll get boycotted by Google which obviously isn't the best thing as a lot of your future visitors will probably find your website through Google.

Basically, you should always stick to the rules and the guidelines. Breaking the guidelines isn't as bad as breaking the rules, but neither is recommended.

Links and PageRank (PR)

Another important thing for you as a web developer to have in mind is the importance of backlinks. Backlinks are links to your website. Remeber it's not the quantity of backlinks, it's the quality. Quality backlinks increase your PageRank.

What's PageRank then?

PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that when one page links to another page, it is effectively casting a vote for the other page. The more votes that are cast for a page, the more important the page must be. Also, the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a page's importance from the votes cast for it. How important each vote is is taken into account when a page's PageRank is calculated.

PageRank is Google's way of deciding a page's importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page's ranking in the search results. It isn't the only factor that Google uses to rank pages, but it is an important one.

Read more about PageRank on webworkshop - pagerank explained.

Eventhough outward links (links from your website) aren't as important as backlinks it's still important that you optimize these. Don't just write "click here", be specific.

Now, a brief summary of what you can do to optimize your website.

* Link to websites with content relevant to your website.

* Never link to websites that Google doesn't like (porn and such).

* Don't get tempted to accept if someone offers you a backlink from a "bad website".

* Be specific with the anchor text (explained above).

* One backlink from a website with PR5 is better than ten PR2 websites.

Making Money On EBay, Is There Room For Everyone?

Making money on eBay, for most people seems like an ideal solution to giving up the daily grind of working for somebody else, and taking control of your future. But how much room is there really in the marketplace. I have no doubt that a select few power sellers have mastered the formula for making profits, and are able to generate above average incomes. But how easy is it to do this, and is there room for everyone?

For the people looking to set up there eBay business, and have done there homework properly it can seem like a tall order to be able to generate any profit from sales. Over recent years eBay has been crammed with new business start ups, with the end result that prices have been cut and cut, to leave almost non existent profit margins. With the end result that consumers are getting a great deal, however for the owner of the business, high stock turnover is required to generate even modest profits.

Finding a niche can also seem a challenging prospect. There are very few things that I haven't found for sale on eBay; perhaps the only exceptions are Air and sea water. However for those looking for business ideas, it may be a good idea to turn to one's hobbies, which they already have good knowledge off, in order to seek out business opportunities.

I believe the key to be able to offer competitive prices to consumers, is to be able to buy stock in at competitive prices. Being able to locate a whole seller is one thing, but being able to buy in stock at low enough prices is another thing. Many eBay power sellers have taken the non traditional route of finding stock from less obvious sources, such as returns that are sent back to many high street stores, which are then sold on at hugely discounted prices. This way Prices can still be competitive but a much larger return on investment can be accomplished.

Entrepreneurial Mindset - Developing Your Business Skills

Do you have an entrepreneurial mindset? Most people dream
of financial freedom and want to start their own business.
However, when it comes to the crunch they still need to
develop their business skills to develop an entrepreneurial
mindset. People want financial freedom because they want
financial security. Running a successful business involves
a mindset change where you take risks, need to be creative
and you need a drive to succeed. If you are a lazy person I
suggest you stick to your day job where you get told what
to do by your boss.

One of the most difficult things to do when making the
transition to an entrepreneurial mindset is that you need
to stop thinking like an employee. You need to learn to do
things by yourself and motivate yourself to succeed as
their is no one watching you. You need to learn how to be
confident and a leader. You also need to learn the value of
persistence and be mentally tough. Even when things are not
going in your favour you need to be inventive enough and
learn new skills to turn your business around.

One of the things you need to do when you start a business
you need to follow the law of attraction. Things will seem
impossible. You will have a vision and not know exactly how
to achieve it. From my experience I have found that in
reality things do not work exactly as you intended in your
business plan. By focusing on your positive energy and
visualizing what you want to achieve you will be able to
attract the right energy in your life to succeed. I suggest
you watch the Secret dvd or read the book Mind Power by
John Kehoe.

Follow these guidelines to develop an entrepreneurial
mindset and you will soon succeed beyond your wildest
dreams. You will have the opportunity to make things come
true which you thought never possible.

Think Your Online Business Is Failing? Compared To This Guy -You Don't Know The Meaning Of Fail!

What kind of income are you looking for? What have you tried already? How frustrated have you become? What are you willing to do to break away from your J.O.B., or maybe to just get some extra income so that you can pay your debts, get a nicer home or car, or give your family what they deserve and you so desperately want to provide for them?

This man, Dennis Becker, has written a full length report on how he went from minimum wage to over $700 a day! His strategy is something that can work regardless of whether you intend to earn your income through affiliate marketing, merchandise sales, setting up AdSense sites, running eBay auctions, writing and distributing articles or press releases, or whatever other methods you use to market yourself or your sites....this WILL work for you.

First of all....if your mindset is based upon the idea of launching one product and making thousands of dollars....get rid of that, it's definetely not what you should be thinking if your a newcomer. The whole strategy is based on the idea of small streams combining making a large river. Think about it as your income. Several small "streams of income" combine to form one large "river of income". Get the picture?

Here is the basis of the plan:

Step 1.) Find a quiet place where you can concentrate, like a closet. Get a paper and pencil and start thinking of any ideas that can make you small amounts of cash everyday. Write them all down on your paper. It doesn't matter if it sounds bad at first, we will cover that in the next step. You can think of tons of ways to make $5 a day, but how many ideas can you think of to make $1000 a week? Not many right?

Step 2.) Review the list and cross out any that you find that may take too long or ones you think won't make at least $5 a day with minimal work. Make sure each of them will take at most a week to finish.

Step 3.) Make a plan. Plan out when you are going to do each one. Start out with an easy one that you know will only take at most a week. Next week, start another and another. Starting to see idea right?

Step 4.) Analyze. Get a paper or a white board and start recording how much each project earns you per day. Your graph will show how each one does as it progresses. Once you see that a project starts losing money pay a little more attention to it. See if you can make it start up again. If not, discard it and replace it with a new one. Every once in awhile, go back to your "closet" and start thinking up more ideas.

Everyday, each project earns you at least $5, most of the time even more. So in a month, you will have 4. In a year you will have 48, each making you at the very least, $5 a day. Thats $87,600 a year. I'd say that's a heck of a lot better than minimum wage. Wouldn't you? ;)

This may seem like a very simple concept, but many new internet marketers simply cannot grasp the idea of small streams into a big stream. The "gurus" encourage them and hype their products saying that they can make $1000 a day! If it was really that easy, everyone would be doing it. But honestly, come back down to earth, does $1000 a day seem like a realistic number to you? No! But $5 seems very realistic. And in time, you can turn that one $5 stream into a $700 river! And the sky's the limit to how large you can make that river. Don't stop at just 48 streams ;)

5 dollars a day is by far the most "down to earth", realistic, and honest method I've seen in my IM days. It has indeed worked for me and I'm sure it will work for you too.

But remember, this is only the basis of the idea. The full report gives you strategies on how to make your projects more efficient, case studies of working projects, a whole host of ideas and concepts for your $5 a day projects, and much more. Of course, you could go off and try it with just this article, but I guarantee you will be missing out on a whole lot if you do. And plus, the report isn't going to cost you hundreds of dollars. In fact, it won't even cost you $10. This generous man has offered it you for just $7. Less than the cost of a fast food meal!

Better get it now before he decides to up the price!

Lead Generation System Secrets of a Lead Generation Coach - Part 2

A Lead Generation System can be split in 5 key areas…

1. Set your objectives

2. Allocate your time and budget

3. Select your marketing approach

4. Test

5. Evaluate

1. Setting Objectives.

The first part of creating your Lead Generation System is to set your objectives. One of the best ways to decide upon what your objectives are going to be, is to do a marketing audit, to identify what has already worked, what hasn't worked, what your marketing achievements have been, identify your disappointments, what you've learned, and what you are going to do differently over the next 12 months.

2. Allocating your time and budget.

The next part of your lead generation system is to decide on a budget and schedule that you dedicate to your marketing. Many people tend to view marketing as an expense instead of an investment, and most businesses know how many sales they need, but very few actually know how many leads they need. Ironically, this is what they're marketing is spent on - generating leads. There is a very useful formula for working this out -

a) What income do you require per week
b) What is the profit per sale/transaction you offer
c) Divide a) by b) to give you the number of sales you need
d) Decide on what your closing ratio has been and is (e.g. 1:2, 1:5, 1:10)
e) Multiply c) by d) to determine the number of leads you need
f) You will know how much available marketing spend you have, so simply divide that by e)
to determine how much per lead you can sensibly afford to spend.

3. Selecting a marketing approach

Your Lead Generation System can utilise a number of methods for generating leads.

So the question is….

Which approach do you use first?

The answer is revealed in part 1 of the process - do what has worked previously for you. If however cashflow is good, and you have calculated your available budget and schedule using the very simple formula outlined in part 2. You may wish to test one or two new approaches on a limited basis, before deciding on which method to "roll out".

4. Testing

Many people have a lead generation system that utilises just one marketing approach…what happens if that channel, tactic, or strategy fails for whatever reason? They have to try a new approach. (Even "Networking" as a channel has lots and lots of indirect and hidden marketing costs that people tend to forget about - train fares, tube fares, taxis, coffees (Lates, mocha and espressos which ever one you choose) , lunches, Beer, chardonnay...it all adds up and drains your cashflow. )

How cost effective (and successful) is your current marketing strategy?

There are 3 fundamental errors people tend to make when testing a new marketing approach.

They focus on what they OFFER the client.

They focus on what they DO for the client

They focus on THEMSELVES - not the client.

Whichever Marketing approach you test, ensure you rigidly stick to this simple formula -

a) Identify your target market and audience - and build a prospective client "profile"
b) Ensure you have a list of client problems that you know you can address
c) Ensure you know your product or solution that you are offering your clients
d) Have a clearly defined pricing strategy to help your casfhlow whilst the bigger deals take time to "land" and "close"
e) Have a well articulated message for your target audience that highlights b) and c) above.
f) Ensure you have implemented 2) in your Lead Generation System before you begin testing.
g) Decide on a marketing tactic - and try it, ideally for a period of 4, 8 or 12 weeks.

5. Evaluating your Lead Generation System

Remember part 1 - your objectives? Use these as your Key Performance Indicators or mile stones to monitor the effectiveness of your lead generation system and marketing campaign. Here are some indicators you could use to monitor the effectiveness of the system -

No, of new ezine subscribers

No. of new signups or downloads for your FREE "teaser" offer

No, of words or square centimetre columns (scc) coverage you got in the press

No of Appointments

No. of business cards collected

No. of referrals

No. of affiliate signups

No. of qualified sales leads

No. of sales

Determine which of the marketing approaches you are using is generating the most progress and business for you. If you are continually using a strategy that Is ineffective - drop it, and test a new approach.

Remember, in a condition of need, when you're short of new business, it is hard to hide that, and when you're "needy" that feeling of neediness, even desperation is apparent, because you are preoccupied with you, and your focus is on you and you tend to talk about what you HAVE, what you can DO, not what the client GETS or NEEDS.

Your prospective clients are preoccupied with themselves, and their problems too, that's why it's important your lead generation system is set up correctly so that it isn't YOU focused and it is client focused.

Setting up a Lead Generation System can and does take time, but once created, can run like a well oiled engine, if the process above is followed. Many self employed service providers who don't have a lead generation system in place for their business very quickly believe that marketing is a waste of time and even begin to doubt whether self employment is actually for them.

A Lead Generation System can and does work, but you have to start thinking differently and then taking consistent action with your new thinking. This new approach can be place you out of your comfort zone, can be perceived as HARD WORK, even frustrating on occasion - but it can pay enormous dividends, and even increase the Life time value of a client by as much as 100 - 500%.

So, stop pushing people away, start attracting new prospective clients in their masses because you have something they want - the promise of a solution that works.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Fraser

Entrepreneurs – Want To Write A Winning Proposal?

You've been working with a potential client and you think that you finally have the future project all worked out – then they ask you for a proposal. You've seen this great potential project but you need to bid for it. So how do you write that proposal that is going to win you the business?

Well first of all let's look at what the proposal should do. Win of course, but before that you have to:

* Make your company stand out from the others as well as reflect the values and brand of your company.

* Offer the solution that is required in a format that is easily understood.

* Be well priced so as to attract the client, provide a profit for your company as well as opportunities for you both to work together in the future.

* Be well structured, well written and well presented.

Bearing in mind the above, your proposal should look something like this:

1) Thanks for the opportunity.

2) Your understanding of the job that needs to be done.

3) How you would complete the job, how long it will take and who will do it.

4) Why your company is the best for the job.

5) Your price – with subject breakdowns if appropriate.

6) Any "must haves" assumptions made etc in getting to the price.

7) Last thanks and way forward.

Item 5 and 6 should be on their own page so that they can be removed if necessary.

Remember to put your company details and contact details on the header of each page and your copyrights, date and page number of number of pages on each footer.

When you send off the proposal, on time of course, include a brief cover letter, with:

* Your contact details.

* The name of the person who is their contact for this bid.

* Your thanks for the opportunity.

* A very brief overview of bid - no price.

* A time frame that bid is current.

* Your thanks and hope to hear from them soon.

Now sit back and pride yourself on a job well done. Good luck

Sales & Marketing Are Changing - Stay Current to Stay Effective

I've had some conversations with people about how some big trends are changing how people respond to marketing and sales efforts. One of the people I talked with is Lonny Kocina, of Media Relations, Inc.

Lonny explained how marketing has followed our productive capacity. Mass production of products led to the need for mass marketing of those products. And, it helped provide the means to do so: mass communications.

Over the last 80 or so years, the nature of our production and distribution has evolved to smaller production runs and more customized or individualized products. Add to this the new media (the Internet) that gives people the ability to acquire information about almost anything.

We now live in an information-rich economy where consumers expect to be well informed before they make a buying decision.

In the past, we could throw simple feature-based messages at people and they'd respond. Whether the messenger was mass media, direct mail or a salesperson, didn't matter. The message was simple and uncluttered.

Unfortunately, things got cluttered.

Marketing became entertainment. Much of the product message got lost because marketers felt the need to entertain people simply to get them to stop and notice them. This took place both in mass media marketing as well as in direct sales. We all had to work harder just to get people's attention.

Now we find ourselves facing buyers who don't really want to be entertained, who are busier than ever before, who have access to the same information we do (for the most part) and who expect to be treated like individuals rather than like nameless, faceless, generic, mass-market buying units.

In the context of advertising, Lonny says we have evolved from "short-form advertising" to "long-form advertising".

If this is all true, what does this mean for our marketing and sales? One thing is that we have to recognize many of the old ways do not work anymore.

For example, look at consumer based telemarketing. This industry has been wiped out in the last few years. It got to the point where it created too much noise and not enough substance. It no longer added value to people's lives. It didn't do enough to help people make better buying decisions. It conflicted with the way people live and the way they want to interact with those who provide them products and services. It became a dinosaur.

Take some time to apply these criteria to how you market your business.

Is your marketing going the way of the dinosaur? Or, are you using methods that acknowledge this new world we live in? Are you reaching people in ways they want to be reached, with the information they want?
Are you helping them or bothering them?

If you're helping potential customers make informed, educated decisions about your product or service then you're on the right path.

If not, you probably should ask yourself why not. Think about how to make your marketing more helpful to your potential customers. You'll see a better return on your marketing investment if you do.

Henry Ford Was a Failure

He is also a shining example of his own assertion that "Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently."

In 1928, Henry Ford set out to increase his bottom line by exerting more control over his supply chain - now called vertical integration - and began the process of creating his own rubber plantation in Brazil. There is some debate over whether his motive was strictly to achieve better pricing for the raw materials needed to make tires for the automobiles he was manufacturing; there was, at the time, a virtual monopoly on rubber coming from a limited number of producers.

He persisted in his venture through numerous difficulties, including a riot by the workers on his plantation who were not enthusiastic about being forced to adhere to the American lifestyle imposed by the management of the facility. He finally gave up in 1945 when the advent of synthetic rubber made organic rubber obsolete for manufacturing purposes. He sold the entire operation to the Brazilian government for a loss of $20 million, which equates to $200 million in today's economy.

But Henry Ford didn't just give up and walk away. He continued to build his automotive empire into what we know today as one of the premier automobile manufacturers with a global market. He persisted, and continued to work toward his ultimate vision. His achievements are legendary, and his insight into the human condition is profound. Other quotes from his writings and interviews are:

"Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right."

"Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success."

"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal."

"Time and money spent in helping men to do more for themselves is far better than mere giving."

"A business absolutely devoted to service will have only one worry about profits. They will be embarrassingly large."

I have no doubt that Henry Ford learned some of these concepts the hard way - through experience and occasional failure - but I am equally certain that the lessons he learned and have passed on will prove to be as valuable in the present and future as they were to him in the past.

Failure is a learning tool…not an indication of worthlessness.

Success will come to those who are devoted to the concept of service, and can work together with others of like mind.

Developing a mindset for accomplishment and staying focused on the goal will be the greatest challenge, and the sweetest victory.

Whatever your challenges are, and despite the obstacles that life places in your path, your dreams and goals can be achieved by applying the same principles that have resulted in one of the greatest success stories of the 20th century. Use these principles on a daily basis, and your achievements will astound you!

Of Business and War

As the American government and various other groups wring their hands over the details on how to lose the current war we are fighting in Iraq, I am reminded how similar fighting to win is like winning in business. You see, America and her allies won World War II when they decided that any means available to us including bombing and burning Dresden into the ground, or using nuclear weapons, was legitimate policy. In Business, you do everything you can to secure more customers, to sell more products, and to outwit your competition.

Internet Entrepreneur Don Lok has taken the ancient book "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu and re-written it with this very idea in mind, that business is like a war, and can succeed when it is executed in a manner that seeks to gain every advantage. I highly recommend the book to anyone who wants to succeed. My wish is that some of our politicians would read it with regard to the war in the middle east! Unfortunately what is going on there is quite like a business that attempts to succeed by resting on past success, while tiptoeing around competition with the hope of not ruffling anyone feathers.

Sun Tzu said (in Don's words) "When you win, crush them like a bug!"

The enemy (and your competition) has no misgivings about doing that to you.

Aside: Capitalism and the free market structure is the only economic system that allows the building of businesses and creation of wealth. For capitalism and free markets to exist, there must be free men and women. So winning any war against any tyrannical government with the goal to promote freedom and free enterprise is both good for mankind as a whole, and business creation and expansion specifically.

Businesses must map out a strategy that allows no retreat. You have heard the saying "burning the bridges behind you"? That should be a strategy that forces you to go forward because there is no other way to go. You must win and there is no other option. Wars should be fought this way, and you can clearly see from the middle east, what happens when they are not.

Business should attempt to eliminate anything it can that gets in the way of success because there is already too much to do. With regard to online business, delegating as much of the infrastructure to others (web site design and management, fulfillment, etc.) and focusing on those things that are business specific (creating or finding products, getting new customers, keeping old customers happy, marketing, etc) are essential.

Win the war.

Entrepreneurs - Could You Handle a "Portfolio Career"? The Pros and Cons

I have had a "Portfolio Career" - consisting of many different careers - for years. I love the flexibility, the variety, the challenges, and the pros and the cons. If you have many different interests, you may find that having a "Portfolio Career" would offer the perfect choice for you. However, you must be willing to risk change.

Two feelings that tend to hold us back from taking a risk are low self-esteem and fear.

Self Esteem: you either like yourself or you don't. Low self esteem creates fear. To raise your self esteem, practice positive self talk, embrace your uniqueness (review your assets and strengths), keep a journal and surround yourself with people who believe in you. Jack Canfield is a master of self esteem. I suggest that you purchase or borrow his new book, The Success Principles: How to Get From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. He covers, with the practical steps to take, 64 success principles.

Fear: holds us back in a plethora of ways. Ask yourself which of the following fear or fears is holding you back: failure, success, I'll get hurt (physically/ emotionally/ psychologically), the unknown, poverty, criticism and loss of love. During my years in the areas of self improvement, I have discovered that most of the people I have worked with fear criticism and success the most. There are also some leaders who want to always be the "winner." Therefore, they avoid risking losing.

What Are Some of the PROS and CONS of Having a "Portfolio Career"?

The PROS: Flexibility, Creativity, Change, Autonomy (being in control), Excitement, Achievement, Development of Expertise and Many Skills, Personal Freedom & Personal Growth, Pleasure Doing What One Likes (actually living our Passion), Risk Taking, Variety, Fast Pace, Leisure Time, Money, Emotional Health, Meaning, Continual Learning. Do these appeal to you?

The CONS: Risk, Change, Lack of Stability, Can Be Overwhelming When Deadlines Overlap, Fast Pace, Lack of Leisure Time, Lack of Money (or financial stability), Pressure, Other People's Opinions, Lack of Company Benefits and Lack of a Regular Routine. If these are distasteful to you, you might not want to consider a "Portfolio Career."

So, what do you think? Could a "Portfolio Career" be the perfect fit for you?

Infopreneurship

The exciting term, infopreneur, is becoming a hit among today's entrepreneurs who want to capitilise on the sea of opportunities available on the internet. An infopreneur, apparently combined from the two words "information" and "entrepreneur", refers to an entrepreneur who makes money by selling/sharing information on the web.

Infopreneurs fall into two categories. One is where infopreneurs sell information which are created on their own. The other kind is whereby infopreneurs piggyback off information from certain sources, modify as their own and sell them. The selling part might not exactly refer to selling information to readers directly all the time. Instead, sometimes information will be made free to be read by anyone. In this case, revenues are earned through advertistments which are relevant to the information. Infopreneurship serves as an important purpose to the public especially when people are looking for information on a specific topic. Then again, the reliability of the source has to be checked for.

The selling part comes in when an infopreneur offers information products in a variety of formats including books, e-books, special reports, audio formats, videos, workbooks, booklets, and virtually any method in which one can deliver information. This method is practised by entrepreneurs cum infopreneurs and successful results are obtained.

The reason for successful infopreneurship, be it selling information or sharing information for free, is that it is a great way to market an individual's ideas, products or services. Information sharing is like presenting a business card. It opens up doors to new business opportunities. With more media exposure, it can easily increase popularity to one's business. An article published on an article submission site, gets republished several times to various websites which increases visitor traffic in the twinkle of an eye. Most infopreneurs have their own website which is a centre for their business. By publishing information on the net, they leave a link behind for interested readers to follow through and land up on the infopreneurs' sites. For an example, an infopreneur may have written on a specific topic such as "the best ingredients to use in cooking a Bombay styled mutton biryani". An interested reader who finds the information useful would then click on the link left by the author to visit his website where there would be more related information on that particular topic.

Gone were the days where there existed an industry era peacefully before technology started exploding into the scene in exponential forms. Today we are living right in the heart of the information era and what more relevance could it be other than infopreneurship. Information is the underlying vitality in today's success to both an individual and a company. So if you feel the need to share loads of information, be it for profitable or non-profitable reasons, dive right into the limitless stream of information superhighway aka internet today.

How to Overcome Network Marketing Paralysis

Will Rogers said, "Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

This is true for all aspects of your life, but especially in your online business. The problem is that there are so many things to learn, so many things to do to get the ball rolling, that it is easy to become overwhelmed. People get so paralyzed by confusion about what they should and in what order that they end up doing nothing at all.

There is a popular mantra used by Network Marketers: "It's simple, but it's not easy." This may seem like a contradiction, but what it means is that the methods you need to use to get your business going are not rocket science…but getting started and gaining momentum can be difficult.

I have my own mantra that has served me well over the years. "It takes less energy to change direction than to overcome inertia." I don't remember enough about my high school physics class to know if that's strictly true, but from a motivational perspective, I can tell you that it works. The trick is to quit thinking about doing, and just start doing.

Whatever business you're in will require you to do things you've never done before…create an advertising campaign, write articles, build a website, etc. The list of new things you will have to learn to do can take on the appearance of an invincible monster. The best way to defeat the monster is to start taking action.

Begin with something that looks relatively easy, even if it's completely outside your realm of experience. Get comfortable with it, gain a little proficiency, and move on to the next thing. You don't have to be the world's greatest at any one of these methods to be a success in your online business; you just need to do them consistently.

You'll find two things to be true as you start to make progress. First, as you begin to learn new things, your mind will become used to processing new information and the next course of action you take will become easier. Second, you'll gain confidence that you can accomplish things that seemed formidable when you started out, which will in turn add to your momentum.

You also need to realize that not everything you do is going to bring immediate results…so don't get discouraged, and don't sit back and wait for things to start happening. When you're confident that you're doing something moderately well, keep doing it and take the next step. Complacency and procrastination will kill a start-up business before it even has a chance to take root and begin growing.

So get on the right track, and keep moving! Don't let the train run you over!

Ten Things To Learn From Google's Success

Turning an idea into a business

Ideas are like sparks -they fly off in thin air. The challenge would be to convert the idea into a full-fledged project and commercializing it into a revenue generating business. When Google started off, they had an idea - one to make it easier for an internet surfer to find precise information in the least possible time. Until the Search engine had a lot many users, the company didn't know how it was going to generate the revenue to earn profits. Let alone profits, there was no business model in place to recover the costs! The idea struck to display advertisements next to search results. Google-owned sites that display ads generated revenues of $1.63 billion, or 60% of total revenues, in the third quarter of 2006. Additionally, its partner sites which also display Google Ads generated 39% of its total revenue - $1.04 billion. You may have an amazing idea to change the world or to serve a consumer gap, but where is the money? That's the million dollar question to ask.

Superior Technology - Quality matters

Google as a brand wasn't built over a million dollar advertising budget. On the contrary, they did not advertise at all for their products & services. The fact is that Google is superior. When they ventured into the Herculean task of downloading the entire internet and making the information available via a search engine query, they wanted it to be precise, easy-to-find and return exactly the information that a human would look for. No. They weren't pioneers. There were other search engine technologies at that time, but they were simply not that good with the results they got. If you are venturing into a business - quality matters.

Having things your own way

As a startup, Google had a major advantage - control over the business along with the required seed capital. Most businesses lose their liberty to venture capitalists. The control and focus of your business at its early stages is as important as the funds that the business needs at that time. Larry and Sergey, as founders cracked a winning deal with two of the most renowned Silicon Valley venture capitalist firms. They had the advantage of having things their own way when it came to decision making since they didn't hire a CEO for long, thus, allowing the founders of the company to stick to their idea of commercializing the technology. As a startup, by getting to have your own way with the business itself gives you an edge.

Word of Mouth publicity

Marketing Guru, Philip Kotler gives reference to a study while emphasizing the effectives of Word of Mouth marketing for a product. More than 60% of the consumers in the study agreed that they made the purchase because one of their close relatives or friends had had a positive experience with the product. Google has never ventured into full-fledged mass media advertising of its search engine technology. For that matter, even the latest products are first tested by opinion leaders and then brought to the public through viral marketing tactics where a satisfied user invites another to use the service. Harnessing the power of word of mouth is indeed challenging considering the fact that tracing its success is a difficult task. In the internet age, this too is not a problem though. Most companies fall prey to extravagant marketing budgets for mass media publicity with a marginal ROI. Why not interact with the consumer directly? Get your product/service tested and improvise it and let word of mouth marketing handle the rest.

Nurturing Innovation

Innovation sounds good in management books. Practically speaking, it loses its luster when the innovative idea starts to become a hindrance in the organization's focus. Google introduced a policy where an employee could spend 20% of his/her work time on his own ideas. Although, it sounded bizarre initially to traditional efficiency-hungry managers, it proved productive indeed. Some of the best products by Google came from the minds of its employees themselves - Google News, Orkut (an ever-growing online community) and many more. This was possible through nurturing of the project in its nascent stages by the founders. As the top management and decision makers of the organization, Sergey and Larry spent time looking at innovative products that could help them achieve their goal - Make information available to users. Unlike many bureaucratic procedures that would hinder innovation in many organizations, it didn't take a lot of time for a project to get recognized as a fruitful one and gain funding by Google. As a business, the goal is not just in making profits, but also to innovate continuously in your field of expertise. Do you have a pet project? Are you up to date with the latest technologies that can help your business's future? In this age, it's not hard to get beaten up by competition because an innovative idea struck before you know what's happening! The message is clear - Innovate and make it work for your business.

An honest brand image works - 'Don't be Evil'

Google is loved by users. The honest brand image they project is of an organization which is here to do good to the public at large. This has worked for Google. The very idea of projecting such a brand image makes them sound like a technological behemoth that is here to help the world in this age of 'Information overload'. Such a brand image allows them to still sound clean regardless of the number of lawsuits it's struggling with for all the wrongs it has done. Also there are other courtroom proceedings for copyright infringement which many of its users are not aware of. Moreover, it's not easy to give out all the information to the entire world – even that revealing strategic defense locations of a country! But still, Google is loved by the end-user because of the brand image it carries. Think of the PR that your brand does just by projecting its purpose!

Focus

Al Ries, well-renowned management guru, says, "Focus is Revolutionary. It goes against conventional thinking although it is extremely simple". At the end of the day, it's the focus of your company that matters. Google has a focus. The focus is Information. To narrow it down further, the focus is to provide accurate information in the least time possible and as accurately as possible. It follows its revenue

generation model and seeks its feasibility in newer pursuits it ventures into. The Google Ad network gets greater exposure with its increasing partnership with external publishers (websites), so also its own pursuits - like Gmail. The focus remains the same here, in terms of generating revenue for its ever growing passion to provide information. If you have a focus in your business, you know what you want from a particular resource and you can chalk down a plan for an expanding business and yet retain its focus.

Company Culture

Employee Stock Options, Free Meals, 20% Work time for something you are passionate about. To work in an organization like this is like a dream come true. It not only suffices the basic needs of the employee, but also gives him the time to explore with his own ideas! In fact, this very thing has helped Google gain more attention in the media. The culture at Google has followed the founders' philosophy. They wanted Google to be the best place to work at. There is a lot that once can learn from Google's Human Resource Management practices - including placing strategic locations for placing food and refreshments!

Beat yourself before the Competition beats you

Competitive Benchmarking as a management practice of the traditional business. In this information age, you can not stay at the top for long with cut-throat competition. Google states that it does not have competition. The statement implies that they work as per the needs of the user. They improvisation of products at Google gain more value by adding more features as per user feedback. The 'beta' version of most of its products are less for the purpose of measuring the performance of the product and more so for improvising the product as per user feedback. You can be the best in the industry if you listen to the end user rather than the competition. Improve your products even when you are at the top, before the competition pulls you down with something better for the consumer.

Think Big

To put it simply, Google is doing has brought a revolution in this Internet Age not only for users but also for businesses across the world. The very reason why the Google Phenomenon is so hyped up is because it has changed the way people use the internet. When you think of it, this revolution started as a University project by two Stanford students! Thinking big and achieving it are two different things. But initially, it all starts with a thought doesn't it? So, think big, think something revolutionary. You ought to make money, if you can change the habits of people for using your products. People don't search for information now-a-days on the internet, they simply Google it!

Launching An Effective Marketing Campaign

Most people associate the meaning of a brand name with a popular brand of apparel, or a big ticket item. In today's business arena, a business name or URL could be categorized as a brand name.

Founded in 1895, Schwinn has established a name for itself as America's most sought after bicycles. Today, Schwinn continues to be a leader in it's industry generating some of the newest lines of bicycles, anticipated to appeal to cycling enthusiast's for generations to come.

Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel began her crusade as a premier fashion designer of women's apparel known for it's comfort and elegance in 1912. She went on to introduce Chanel No. 5, one of six fragrances in it's line in 1922. Chanel continued to make a name for herself marking her "comeback" into the world of fashion in 1954. Some of her most popular apparel were the Chanel suit, pea coats, bellbottom pants, and the ageless little black dress, to name a few.

Business life as we know it wouldn't exist if it weren't for Frederick W. Smith, founder and CEO of Federal Express. While not an overnight success, Smith overcame the potential of going bankrupt and rose to become one of America's greatest business success stories.

Marketing is a repetitive action widely used by every business imaginable to gain recognition in specific areas of expertise. In order to experience success in today's world of business, it is necessary to generate maximum exposure by marketing your product or services. Not many businesses can survive without a website. The Internet is the most competitive marketing arena at our disposal today. As with any marketing campaign, we need to determine what our website's objective is.

In the service business, the emphasis would be to generate more traffic to a website in an effort to attract new clients. In order to gain a competitive advantage, a service provider would establish credibility by creating name recognition for their business. This can be done by writing articles pertaining to your area of expertise. Article writing is rapidly becoming an avenue service providers participate in to demonstrate their knowledge and experience in their field of expertise. The advantage of article writing is it's ability to expose your business to your target market for free. It's a common practice to include a "resource box" at the conclusion of an article to direct your audience to your website, including an e-mail address where potential customers may contact you.

Link exchange has become a popular and effective tactic in generating traffic to a website. Many businesses are researching other businesses on the web that are directly related to their products or services. When locating such sites businesses offer to link to the targeted business in exchange for a reciprocal link to their URL.

Any business can capitalize on the potential of exposing their business by writing a press release. An article describing a business' products or services could offer the potential of generating credibility and visibility when targeting the appropriate market.

Implementing a discussion forum on a website creates the potential to expose a business to their specific targeted market. Businesses that host such forms boost credibility in their specialized fields. Leading discussion forums creates credibility for businesses that demonstrate why potential customers would benefit from a business' products or services.

Creating a newsletter offers your guests the opportunity to register as a member to your website. Providing useful information or updates pertaining to your field of expertise generates repeat traffic to your site, with the potential to increase sales and clientele.

We can't disregard the benefit of networking. While most businesses don't associate networking with their marketing campaigns, it is yet another way to establish credibility and exposure for your business. It is a common practice for a signature line to be included at the conclusion of every post. Much like a resource box for articles, the signature line can be considered your online business card. This also hold true for outgoing e-mails, it offers all pertinent information of who you are, what you offer, and how to contact you.

Marketing your URL is a highly effective way to increase exposure for your business. Many businesses offer freebies to new customers, or promotional items in marketing campaigns. It can be very cost effective to produce t-shirts, pens, coffee mugs and caps, to name a few, as a way to create recognition for your brand. Providing staff with polo shirts printed with a logo and URL creates recognition each time your staff leaves the office.

Traditionally, business information is included on business cards, letterheads, envelopes, labels, flyers and brochures. Manufacturers have created recognition for their products on commercials, radio shows, billboards, and bumper stickers to name a few.

There are literally thousands of ways to brand products and services. Getting the word out about your business is a necessity for any business to thrive. Generating a website that is engaging, informative and encourages your guests to return is an essential tool to gain recognition in your field.
